Headline News - OpenSea and Magic Eden Add Arbitrum and Ethereum NFTs
ETH has continued to drop in value over the past week, with the FOMC meeting delivering another 75 bps rate hike, leaving the general macro sentiment skeptical at best.
There’s been pockets of activity within the NFT market, including the return of legendary illustrator Matt Furie. The famed creator of Pepe The Frog launched NFT collection Hedz, which minted out at 0.666ETH and saw floors shoot up towards ~3.4ETH before coming back down to around 1.7ETH at the time of writing.
Aside from the usual suspects (BAYC, MAYC, ENS, ArtBlocks, CryptoPunks and Otherdeeds) there was impressive volume from PosersNFT, claiming to be ‘The first PFP on PoS! The first on-chain on PoS!’. Wade F&F, a membership pass providing guaranteed access to the most exclusive fashion collab NFTs and goods, by CRIPCO & IPX, also had a huge surge, with the floor price increasing 150-fold. See full article here.
RENGA and Azuki also featured highly on the weekly volume charts, as did the Tyler Hobbs Fidenza collection, in part due to the upcoming QQL drop.
There’s been quite a lot of news regarding NFT marketplaces this week, with each one evolving at what feels like a lightning pace. Two of the bigger stories were the integration of Arbitrum NFTs on OpenSea and Ethereum NFTs on Magic Eden. For an article providing an overview of both stories, please click here. Historical Insight: The NINJASUIT NFT asset from the Sarutobi Island collection is regarded as a “Holy Grail” of historical NFTs. It was launched in May 2016, and has a current supply of 200. It’s considered the 1st ever tokenized gaming skin and the 1st ever “metaverse asset” in that it could be used in two different games. It has traded for as high as 28ETH, with a sale just gone through at 11.5ETH, and the current floor price sitting at 69ETH. Volume is low, but conviction is high as a long-term hold. OTC trades will deliver the best prices.
Talking Point - NFT Metadata and how to find it
Generally speaking, an NFT is a token that represents a specific digital asset, whether that be an image, video, audio or something else. In most cases, that file itself can’t be hosted on the Ethereum blockchain, so it’s hosted off-chain. NFT metadata specifies what that data is and includes things like the visual or auditory asset and other information such as transactional history.
NFT metadata is essentially a workaround to avoid the technical and financial difficulties of hosting large files natively on-chain on Ethereum or other blockchains.
Last week I came across this article by the team at Cointelegraph: How to find NFT metadata on OpenSea and Rarible? It actually features far more information than the title suggests, so if you’ve interested to learn more on the topic, have a read.
