The NFT space can feel like information overload at times, so we’ve cut through the noise to deliver you a curated dose of what matters most. Your all-in-one weekly companion.
Headline News - New mints see large volumes and Magic Eden does a u-turn on its royalties stance
This week saw multiple new mints successfully storming the 24hr volume charts, including Primitives by Aranda/Lasch (an Art Blocks collection), Degenheim, Mothz (WenLamp), Splat and Down Market Ducks. It felt somewhat encouraging to see this and provided an air of positivity amongst the backdrop of the bear.
When looking at the weekly volume, it’s a more familiar bunch, with CryptoPunks in top spot, BAYC in second, Azuki in third, Otherdeed in fourth and Nyolings (a new collection) in fifth spot.
There was scandal surrounding Dodoor NFT, with it losing its verified collection status on OpenSea, and being removed from the rankings charts. Akuki saw huge volume on the back of an announcement regarding their Physical Backed Token (PSB), BLUR, a new NFT marketplace, launched with an airdrop for holders and Magic Eden did a u-turn on their royalties stance as the NFT space struggles to come to an agreement on best practices. Fidenza creator Tyler Hobbs offered his opinion on the topic in an interview with Decrypt.

Talking Point - Selling physical items as NFTs
NFTs have many use cases, but one which often leads to confusion is the idea of them being linked to real, physical items.
This week we saw a house in South Carolina, USA, exchange hands for $175,000USD. The transfer of ownership took place via an NFT sale. It occurred on an NFT marketplace geared towards real estate, set up by Roofstock in partnership with Origin Protocol. They claim one of several benefits of transacting this way is a 50% saving on sellers fees. You can read the full story here: NFT Tied To Real House In South Carolina Sells For $175K.
With this recent story in mind, and the fact that many other brands and NFT collections have physical offerings too, I thought i’d share some articles on the topic for anyone who wanted to better understand it.
This article by the team at Cointelegraph provides a simple and short overview: Selling physical items as NFTs, explained.
If you’re interested in looking at a few different examples of how NFTs are being used in connection to physical items, check out this article which highlights 5 brands making moves in the space: 5 brands using NFTs to sell physical products
And for another take on use-cases, more closely tied to the art and collectibles space, check out this piece out by the team at nftnow: Physical NFTs? One Potential Mainstream Use-Case Explained
In the last bull-run there was a lot of hype around crypto start-ups who planned to tokenize real estate and allow for a percentage ownership of properties by buying into pooled funds. These ideas have largely fallen by the wayside for now, but NFTs seem to have a real, valid use-case in the real estate industry, as well as many others. It’s an area I think has legs and I look forward to seeing how it plays out.
Tip Of The Week - 30 Days Of NFTs
This is a new education based initiative from the ZenAcademy team. It’s completely free, and offers everyone and anyone an excellent opportunity to gain a solid understanding of NFTs from the ground up.
We all have that friend or family member who’s kind of interested in NFTs, but who finds the whole space daunting. They probably don’t use Discord or Twitter, and feel that the technical side of things is “beyond them”. This beginners course is to show them it’s not.
The entire course is delivered via email, using simple language and relatable content. All they need to do is visit this website, and enter their email address: https://30daysofnfts.com/. They will then receive one email a day, for 30 days, teaching them the foundations of NFTs.
There’s no catches, and anyone who takes the course can reply to the emails with any follow up questions or feedback. The goal is that after a month of reading these emails, a person can go from zero to having a decent understanding of this space. So please share the course with anyone you think might benefit from it and enjoy it.
Making the space more accessible to more people in the most simplistic way possible is what this initiative is all about.
If you’ve got any questions about the course, please feel free to jump into the ZenAcademy Discord where the team will be happy to help you.
