The NFT space can feel like information overload at times, so we’ve cut through the noise to deliver you a curated dose of what matters most. Your all-in-one weekly companion.

Headline News - Crypto’s Pumping, Artists Flock To Instagram and Yuga Announce Mint Details

The Captainz top this weeks 7-day volume charts, having dropped last weekend. Despite some FUD in relation to its 9% creator royalty, the project saw a floor of over 7.5ETH. It’s now sitting in the 5.33ETH range. In second spot by weekly volume is CryptoPunks, followed by Mutant Hound Collars in third, Friendship Bracelets in fourth and Bored Ape Yacht Club in fifth.

The Mutant Hound reveal saw an initial floor of around 1.1ETH, and currently sits at 0.8ETH, taking sixth spot in weekly volume. The Memes by 6529 had another great week, with more drops and the floor moving just above 0.4ETH at its height. It’s now just under 0.35ETH. New collection BasedHeads did decent volume, clocking up almost 1,500ETH in sales. The floor peaked at around 0.32ETH pre-reveal, and now sits at 0.15ETH.

The crypto markets are green across the board, with both BTC and ETH registering around 23% uplifts over the past 7 days. SOL is up a whopping 76%, whilst APT saw a mind-blowing 110% increase.

Amidst the markets bubbling away, there was news of layoffs at both Coinbase and SuperRare. Meanwhile, Avalanche partnered with AWS (Amazon Web Services), helping their native token, AVAX, move 50% up in value over the past week. Instagram has seen artists flock to its platform as mints sell out in seconds, and Yuga Labs announced details about their upcoming mint.

Talking Point - AI Tech and Objectification

Whilst the AI sector flourishes, and we’re loving every moment of it, there’s a darker side to it too. Deepfakes, which are already scarily impressive, have featured heavily in the press for their negative impact on people’s lives, when used with malicious intent. And a similar trend is developing using AI image editors/creators.

As with any nascent industry, it feels important to acknowledge not only the positive outcomes, but also the negatives that accompany them. I don’t profess to know how we’d go about effectively curtailing them. We probably can’t. But I feel it’s necessary to understand it exists, and consider what impact it might have on society, particularly the younger generations.

I work part-time in the mental health and wellbeing space, whereby I’m often met with issues around body-image and self-esteem. With this in mind, I want to gain an understanding of this new landscape, so i’m better equipped to help others navigate it safely. And I imagine parents might feel the same way.

The article linked below, by the excellent team at nftnow.com, provides a great summary of what’s currently at play in the seedier side of the AI movement. I invite you to take and look and come to your own conclusions as to how much of an issue it may become.

1 Million Challenge - Zeneca recently announced his intentions with regards to his latest challenge. Beforehand, he’d taken on the 1ETH challenge, which some of you may remember. This time around, he’s looking at audience building. To that end, he’s given himself the target of getting 1million Twitter followers, amongst other things. We’re still hoping to get Student IDs out by the end of this month, and will continue to communicate with the community with regards to our progress on this front.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the launch of our ZenDaily Twitter spaces has been pushed back, and we’re currently aiming to get this up and running by the end of January.
We’re very much hoping to be able to share a sneak peak of the PFP art by end of month too. We’ll do what we can to make this happen, but it could well be early February instead. We’ll keep you posted.
