Headline News - Amazon NFT Rumours, Kevin Rose Hacked, Doodles 2 Details Announced and Porsche 911 Mint Raises Question Of Refunds
Sewer Pass dominated the 7-day volume charts for the second week in a row, with over 11K ETH traded. The Memes By 6529 was in second spot, CryptoPunks was in third, and new collections Porsche 911 and Proceed w/Caution were in fourth and fifth respectively.
The Porsche 911 mint got off to a rocky start, with underwhelming demand in light of the very high mint price of 0.911ETH. The community had warned them that this wasn’t a great move, but they’d not listened. With the mint struggling and CT poking fun at the lack of utility, the Porsche 911 team decided to cut the supply from 7,500 to 2,363. This had the desired impact as interest hotted up on the secondary markets and the floor price flew above 3ETH. It’s now settled down and is currently sat at 1.85ETH. But price-structure wasn’t the only thing about this launch which captured people’s attention. One eagle-eyed consumer noticed something else, which brought into focus the notion of refunds on NFT mints (click here for full story).
Toshies saw the highest volume for a new mint, with over 1,082ETH traded. A KID called BEAST had another good week with just under 2K in secondary sales. Seize The Meebs!, DigiDaigaku Masked Villains, Nyan Balloon and Checks - VV Edition all saw good volume, taking up spots 12 to 15 respectively in the weekly charts.
The Friendship Bracelets floor price continued its downtrend, currently sitting at 0.36ETH, having been at almost 0.7ETH 2-3 weeks ago. Trump Digital Trading Cards have made a comeback, with the floor back up to 0.47ETH from a low of 0.14ETH. And despite having the weeks highest NFT sale, Bored Ape Yacht Club only managed to secure 8th spot in total volume. One of the lowest showings for the collection in months.
Kevin Rose had over $1M worth of NFTs stolen whilst Azuki fell victim to a Twitter hack. There’s rumours Amazon will will launch an NFT initiative in Spring, Floor App acquired WAGMI.io and Doodles unveiled Doodles 2 details plus FLOW blockchain integration plans.

Talking Point - What Are Dynamic NFTs?
I think it’s fair to say that the majority of people understand NFTs as either digital collectibles or access/membership passes for token-gated communities. There’s also a growing understanding of their relevance to gaming, in terms of “skins”, upgrades and in-game rewards. But ask someone what a dynamic NFT is and you may not get much of an answer. So here’s an introduction to what they are, and some of the potential use cases.
First, let’s look at what a static NFT is. This is the type of NFT most people are familiar with. These are tokens with permanent and immutable traits recorded on the blockchain, and in many cases, it’s specifically this immutability aspect that makes them so valuable. Static NFTs are prevalent in the PFP and art worlds, and collections such as Bored Ape Yacht Club and Doodles use them. They can be associated with a variety of media types, including images, audio and video.
The metadata (the data which makes up the content of an NFT, often describing its characteristics and properties, such as its name, description, transaction history, traits, link to the hosted image, and more) of a static NFT is fixed and immutable once the NFT is minted. In contrast, the metadata of dynamic NFTs can change based on varying conditions. This enables us to alter the appearance and utility of the NFT over time, or in relation to pre-determined rules.
With this enhanced capability, NFTs start to present new opportunities for developers and users. Smart contracts can be programmed to take inputs from both off-chain and on-chain data sources, which can alter the metadata of the tokens, providing increased flexibility and potential.
Imagine you buy an NFT to be part of a community you love. On purchase, the image displayed is a green hotdog. You access to their Discord “foyer”, which includes all the other new members. After 4 weeks, the NFT evolves into a blue hamburger, and an accompanying text which reads ‘Step into the maze’. You log in to Discord, and you’re granted access to a new area, full of different chatrooms, a merch store and a games room. You go to the merch store, and are made aware that you can claim a branded cap, delivered to your door. In the games room, you’re made aware that if you reach level 10 on the “Bunker Game”, there’ll be a surprise for you. Over the next month, you receive your cap, and reach level 10. Your NFT evolves further into a silver human. On returning to Discord, you find your status has been upgraded once more, and you’ve been provided access to a map, showing all the communities IRL events, with two free tickets available for your use. You go to the event with a friend, and receive a POAP. You link the POAP to your Discord profile, which your NFT is using as a data point. And next time you check your NFT, it’s background has changed to a representation of the part of the world your most recent IRL event was held. You get the point. The NFT can change over time in relation to a multitude of circumstances.
Below are some other simplified examples:
An image could change its appearance based on the weather in a certain part of the world.
An NFT could be granted increasing tier access within a community over time.
An NFT linked to medical records could be updated in real-time, and act as your medical history.
You could tokenize a real-world asset, such as real estate. In this example, you could update the associated data, such as recent renovations, last sale price, permits, current owners etc.
In fantasy sports management games, your NFT could evolve based on real-life results.
